Racing Rules
Applies to horse racing, greyhound racing, and virtual racing on rake.com · Last updated: 1 January 2026
Horse Racing
- Win bets: settled on the official finishing position declared by the relevant racing authority.
- Each Way bets: Win part settled at full odds; Place part settled at 1/4 of odds for races with 8+ runners (1/5 for 5-7 runners, 3 places for 5-7 runners, 4 places for 8-15 runners, 5 places for 16+ runners).
- Non-runners: if a declared runner does not start, win bets are void. Each Way place terms are recalculated.
- Dead heats: odds are divided by the number of horses involved in the dead heat.
- If a race is abandoned before the off, all bets are void.
- Rule 4 Deductions: applied when a non-runner is declared after betting opens. Deductions are per standard Tattersalls Rules.
Greyhound Racing
- All bets are settled on the official trap draw and finishing order.
- Reserves: if a reserve dog runs and the original dog is withdrawn, bets are void.
- Abandoned races: all bets are void if a race is abandoned before the traps open.
- Short races (less than 4 runners): bets may be voided at Rake's discretion.
Virtual Racing
- Virtual racing results are determined by a certified Random Number Generator (RNG).
- RNG outcomes are audited by an independent third party.
- All virtual races are settled immediately after the result is declared.
- Virtual racing bets have no relation to real-world racing events.
General
- Objections and inquiries: bets are settled on the result standing after any official inquiry.
- Photo finishes: bets are settled on the official result after the photo has been examined.
- Disqualifications: if a horse/dog is disqualified after initial placement, bets are resettled on the revised result.
- Contact racing@rake.com for settlement queries within 72 hours of the event.
